INTERVIEW WITH PAIGE FROM TEQUILA STAINED TEE'S

1. Q: Tell me about yourself and how long have you been blogging for now?

A: I am 23 years old, I love to travel, food, and fashion and I decided to start writing about all of it when I was seventeen years old.

2. Q: How did you get into blogging, what are you hoping to get out of it?

A: I got into blogging when I was in high school when I started noticing more and more travel bloggers emerging on the internet. Once I found out it was something that people did full time and made a living off of, I was hooked and I knew it was something I wanted to pursue. I have always loved writing so why not? I have changed directions with my blog so much over the last couple of years but I know now that what I want is for it to be a platform for me to write about different cultures around the world in a way that encourages me to keep exploring. There is so much that I want to see and I want to encourage other people to leave their comfort zone and to learn more about the world as well.

3. Q: What are you currently listening to?

A: I am listening to music constantly! My taste is very broad but lately, I've been on a blues kick. But blues turned into the soul and then somehow I'm hooked on 90's R&B currently. I also listen to a lot of EDM, I'm a sucker for a good drop. However, my all time favorite band is Gorillaz. Hands down!

4. Q: Who are your role models, mentors, and heroes?

A: Honestly, my family. It's cliche but it's true. I have three brothers and they are my biggest mentors. They are all unique in their own way and they always remind me to be myself. Growing up I was the only girl so even though I loved dresses and girly things, I loved playing in the mud and climbing trees and I always wanted to prove that I was as tough as any boy. As far as role models go, my mom and aunts have always been women that I look up to! And of course there is my dad: without him, I wouldn't have such a good work ethic and he is the one who inspired and taught me to write in the first place.

5. Q: What are some things that people may not know about you?

A: Many people don't know that I love sports. I love running, volleyball, basketball, tennis, and rock climbing. Many people don't know this because I am TERRIBLE at sports! Like, I'm really awful! It's sad. But I still try and I love playing anyways. I try to go to the gym at least 4 times a week and I used to be really into yoga. Kickboxing is next on my list of endeavors so we will see how it goes...

6. Q: What are some of the biggest struggles you've faced in life that has helped shape you into who you are today? (Illnesses, traveling, breakups)

A: The biggest struggle I have ever faced was being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, an inflammatory bowel disease when I was 21 years old. Being diagnosed with a chronic autoimmune disease is extremely difficult and it took me a long time to process it. I hate to be held back and UC has done it to me so many times. But every single day I push myself to not let it hold me back and that alone has made me very strong. At first, I struggled with my self-esteem and then I pushed through that and now I am just focusing on pain management.

7. Q: How would you describe your style?

A: I would describe my style as very classic and relaxed. I love a good pair of denim! I own so many jeans and I love to pair them with a men's t-shirts. It's my all-time favorite combo! I love timeless pieces like sneakers, leather jackets, and blazers. But then I might do a 180 and I won't pass up a chance to wear sequins and heels!

8. Q: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years especially with your blog?

A: Right now I am currently pursuing my TEFL certification (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). My plan for the next 5 years is to travel throughout Asia, teaching English so that I can travel and pay my student loans. While in Asia I want to observe the cultures in various countries and focus on learning about the people who end up working in sweatshops to support their families. I eventually want to go to South Asia and the Middle East so I can understand the cultures where women have less access to education and jobs. Eventually, I want to end up in Latin America, where the sustainable and ethical fashion market is growing. I want to work in ethical fashion but I don't believe I can do that without first exploring the cultures and countries where sweatshops and unethical practices are so prevalent.

9. Q: Tell our readers what platforms, apps and other tools you use for social media, (like how you edit your photos...)?

A: I use Wordpress for my blog, I am hosted by Bluehost and I love it! I use Facebook and Twitter but I use Instagram more than anything else. I shoot all my photos on my Nikon D7000 or my iPhone 7+, and I edit all of my photos with VSCO.

10. Q: What are some unexpected opportunities you've benefited from having a blog? (talk about meetups, free merch, job opps etc...)

A: I have had the wonderful opportunity to receive some rad products and meet some incredible people through blogger meetups! Most importantly, you! If you guys don't know, Jordan and I met because we both worked for URBN Inc. and a question about the employee discount turned into a conversation about blogging and now here we are, a little more than a year later!
